Once you obtain enrollment application materials, please fill out the family application form. Submission of the completed forms, with a non-refundable $75 application fee, places your child in our admissions process. This fee also covers the first informational tour, as well as our Family tour for both you and your child. Families with twins only need to make one payment.
While we encourage families to apply early in order to enter into the Russian Hill School’s wait pool, date of application is just one factor in the school’s admissions decision.
Step 2 Parent Tour:
Parents are required to tour the Russian Hill School (once paperwork and the fee are received) in order to be considered in the initial applicant pool for any enrollment year. Tours are held on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m., by reservation. They are conducted by our Preschool Director and include an introduction to the curriculum, a tour of the classrooms, and an opportunity to have individual questions answered. Representatives of the Russian Hill School parent community are present and also available for the question and answer session. We recommend planning on two hours for a tour. The initial tour is for ADULTS ONLY. Please fill out the requested tour date on your application form. Our Admissions Director, Heather Piper or our administrative assistant, Christy Stein, will call to confirm the tour date. After the informational tour, should you choose to waitlist with us, we will process your application and enter you into the next tour process.
Step 3 Family Tour:
We will schedule times to meet with each candidate for a second tour, to take place when your child is two and a half years old. These tours are held on Saturday mornings, from 11:00 a.m. -12: 00 p.m., and are attended by both the parent(s) and the children of 10-12 applicant families. This provides an opportunity for us to meet your child when he/she is closer to school age; for your child to see the school; and for parent/guardians to discuss any further questions they may have about the school and their child’s enrollment. They are conducted by our Director and the Admissions team, and include an opportunity for children to participate in the Russian Hill School open classroom setting. As well, we present a video clip of a typical day at Russian Hill School, highlighting the daily schedule and routines. This process affords each candidate a chance to “experience” the curriculum at Russian Hill School.
After their Family tour, families are encouraged to call or write with any information they feel is important for the Admissions team to know in making admissions decisions including the level of the family’s interest in the school. Letters of recommendation are neither expected nor required.
Step 4 The Admissions Decision:
Applicants are carefully reviewed by our Admissions team. We consider a host of variables including the age and development, entrance date into our wait pool, learning style, social skills and a concern for gender balance and student diversity. We also consider the match between prospective families and The Russian Hill School in the areas of our mission and philosophy.
The Russian Hill School will mail notification of our admissions decision in March 2007. Enrollment is guaranteed when the parent/guardians’ signed contract and deposit have been returned to the school.
The deadline for submitting applications and signing up for the admissions/tour process for enrollment into the 2008-2009 school year is February 2008. back on top
